  • Maximum video performance: When using the Canopus, copy the movie file to an internal drive and relink the session to the new location.
  • The folowing issue has been fixed in Mac OS X 10.3.4: With earlier Mac OS X versions, a Kernel Panic may result when playing video out of the Firewire Port via a Canopus ADV-100 when using a Digi 002 or 002 Rack. If you are not on OS X 10.3.4, using a 3rd party FireWire card for the CPU will allow this workflow.

Maximum Performance Guidelines

• Recording to the system startup drive is not recommended or supported.
• For Power Mac G5 or G4 desktop models, a separate internal or external dedicated audio hard drive is highly recommended for maximum performance and track count.
• Although limited recording and playback of audio tracks may be possible using the internal drive in iBook, PowerBook and iMac models, a separate external dedicated audio hard drive is highly recommended for maximum performance and track count. Digidesign recommends the use of FireWire drives for use with these computers.
• When using FireWire storage with Digi 002, connect the Digi 002 and the drives to separate FireWire ports if possible
• If only one port is available, connect the drives to the CPU using a 1 meter firewire cable, then connect the Digi 002 to the drives

Known Incompatibilities

• Recording with the Digi 002 to a FireWire drive connected to any of the 3 built-in Firewire ports on the 2003 PowerMac G4 'FW800' models can result in -6085 errors. On these computers, Digidesign recommends using a dedicated internal ATA/IDE drive for recording. If using FireWire drives with Digi 002 & 2003 G4 FW800 computers, a FireWire PCI adapter card must be used.
• Digi 002 will not function if any Digidesign PCI cards are installed in the CPU. (Digi 001, Audiomedia III, TDM cards, SampleCell)
• Pro Tools LE core hardware systems cannot be combined
• Pro Tools 6 does not work in the OS 9 'Classic Mode'. You must choose Mac OS X as your Startup Disk.

Dual Processor Support

Pro Tools 6 for Mac OS X is fully compatible with Apple dual processor models. There is no need to install any additional software. Dual processor users will experience increased performance over single processor CPUs.

System Software

• Pro Tools LE 6.4 is officially supported on Mac OS X 10.3.2, 10.3.4, and 10.3.5 (Panther)
• 10.3.3 has not been fully tested with Pro Tools, will not be further tested, and is not recommended

Total System RAM

• 384 MB minimum, 512 or higher recommended
• More RAM increases overall system and Pro Tools performance
• 512 MB RAM or higher suggested for sessions with high edit density, extensive use of plug-ins, or simultaneous use with MIDI sequencers
• DigiTranslator 2.0 will also require additional RAM
• OS X does not require minimum or preferred RAM settings for Pro Tools as RAM is dynamically allocated
