Tavannes Watch Co. Established in 1891 Swiss Made Watches. Discover our fine Swiss Made watches for Ladies and Gents. The other shorter numbers seen in cases, such as 17548 in the case in the image here, is most likely a serial number. This might correspond to the movement serial number. Tavannes: Rebuilding a Brand by Bruce Shawkey, NAWCC Watch & Clock Bulletin No. 402 March April 2013. Roy also has a separate listing, presumably later (again, no date), for the Tavannes Watch Co., at 608 Fifth Ave., N.Y.C. By then the only trademarks listed are TAVANNES, CYMA, TACY, TAVAN and TAVANCO, but, alas, NO TRUSTY, doggone it! I'll leave it to you to draw your own conclusions from this information. During WWI, the Tavannes Watch Co was approached by two British submarine commanders to consider the construction of a watch suitable for work on submarine decks awash in water - This watch was supposed to be water-tight, non-magnetic, and the balance wheel had to be of a material which shows a minimum of expansion and contraction with variations in temperature - The face had to be.
