Cause

There is a bug in ZeroG's Install Anywhere. (The software used to create the
FileAgent installer program).

Resolving The Problem

The error message appears when the username in Windows contains characters like # or !. Please follow these steps in order to install FileAgent:
1) Login as a different user or create a new temporary user (i.e. 'temp') and login as this user.
2) Install FileAgent. Don't forget to select 'For all users'.
3) Relogin as the user with the special character and run the FileAgent installation.
4) Delete the login created in step 1.

Problem

The Spectrum Protect for Virtual Environments console or silent install on Redhat Linux fails with error 'Installer User Interface Mode Not Supported'.

Symptom

An example of the error follow below.

1. Execute the following command to install 8.1.4.1-TIV-TSMVE-Linux package:

./install-Linux.bin -i console

2. The installation fails with the following console messages:

Preparing to install
Extracting the JRE from the installer archive..
Unpacking the JRE..
Extracting the installation resources from the installer archive..

Installer User Interface Mode Not Supported
Unable to load and to prepare the installer in console or silent mode.

Cause

This is a known issue of InstallAnywhere caused by certain installed fonts on some versions of Redhat, related to Redhat Bug 1484079

InstallAnywhere has an existing Work Order to better handle this issue, which is being tracked as IOJ-1843875.

Diagnosing The Problem

execute the following command to verify if the following packages are installed:

rpm -qa grep xorg-x11-fonts-Type1
rpm -qa grep stix-fonts

Resolving The Problem

The issue can happen if both of these font packages are installed :

xorg-x11-fonts-Type1-7.5-9.el7.noarch
stix-fonts-1.1.0-5.el7.noarch

Remove one or both above packages and re-run the install
